On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, a series of moderate earthquakes struck various regions of Turkey. The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) and Kandilli Observatory are closely monitoring the situation and providing real-time updates to the public. The first tremor, measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale, occurred at 11:47 AM with its epicenter in Gemlik, Bursa. This quake was felt in Kocaeli, as well as surrounding provinces such as Istanbul, Yalova, and Sakarya. Approximately 70 minutes later, a second earthquake, this time measuring 4.2 in magnitude, struck the Marmara Sea. This too was widely felt in the Kocaeli region and beyond. Authorities have reported no casualties or significant damage so far, but have warned of possible aftershocks in the area.
