Arsenal, the Premier League club with lofty championship aspirations for the upcoming season, is on the verge of finalizing a major transfer deal to bolster their striking force. According to reports from L’Equipe, the Gunners have progressed to the final stages of negotiations with Swedish forward Viktor Gyökeres, who has been a long-standing target for the North London side. Should the deal be completed, Arsenal will have secured the services of the prolific goal-scorer they have been seeking for some time. The report also notes that Arsenal had previously expressed interest in Benjamin Sesko, but the negotiations for that transfer ultimately fell through, leading the club to shift their focus to Gyökeres. The 27-year-old Gyökeres, who currently plays for Sporting, had a remarkable last season, finding the net 54 times and providing 13 assists across 52 appearances in all competitions.
