The US State Department has approved the sale of a $510 million ammunition package, including precision-guided munitions and related support equipment, to Israel. The sale is aimed at enhancing Israel’s ability to defend its borders, infrastructure, and population centers against current and future threats. The package includes 3,845 KMU-558B/B guidance kits for BLU-109 bombs and 3,280 KMU-572 F/B Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) guidance kits for MK 82 bombs, along with engineering, logistics, and technical support services. The sale is seen as vital to US interests, as it strengthens Israel’s security and improves interoperability with US forces, while also supporting America’s defense readiness.
